Larry Simon
Here are tracks from more recent times. This represents my work with bands, as opposed to my compositional work. In this realm I tend to favor a sort of soul/jazz style, or perhaps more accurately and kind of psychedelic, world music inflected, blend of jazz, blues and rock.
When I moved to Portsmouth, NH in 1996 I formed my band "Larry Simon and Groove Bacteria". It features myself on guitar, Scip Gallant on organ, Chris Stambaugh on Bass, Mike Barron on Drums and Frank Laurino on Percussion. Additionally we often feature Cynthia Chatis on flute and vocals and the great Don Davis on sax and flute. The group still exists. We've released a few cd's, some representing our long-time work collaborating with poets. Our cd' "Old School Jams and Drones" is available for sale on this site.

In 2018 I moved to Amherst, MA. and have been performing a lot around Western Mass. I am, more or less working with three ensemble, or variations on these ensembles.
I formed a group with guitarist John Kozinski called "The Soul Jazz Quartet." Aside from myself and the virtuosic Kozinski on guitars we have the local legend George Plouffe on organ and Riley Godleski (one of the most in-demand players in the area) on drums. I also play as a duo with John.
My other ensemble is "The Simon/Cabán Trio, with the amazing guitarist John Cabán (see his bio below) and his son Kai on Bass.
I haven't yet gone into the studio with these players but I have some live tracks below that I hope you'll enjoy.
